PDA's and full text docs

Just like sending yourself a document from an online database through email you can do the same thing using the Pocket PC's. Just click on email when the results are displayed and send. It's that easy.

Printing For Math Assignments

All
There is a math class that when the students try to print the assignments, they print landscape and part of the information is missing. For some reason, it's because the printer is looking for 8.7 x 11 size paper and not 8.5 x 11.

To FIX:
Copy all the assignment and paste into Word. You'll need to then change the page set-up.
File
Page set-up
Then change the 8.7 to 8.5
OK
Print.

Dr. Baldwin's paper: Chicago Style

The good Dr. Baldwin is requiring his students to use Chicago Manual of Style for his papers. This style requires the use of endnotes. Students have been perplexed about how to make an end mote in Word 07.
Go to Insert>reference>Footnote, then change footnote to endnote. Then change the number style to arabic numerals.

Lost printers

If you enconter a computer which has lost its printers it is suggested that we should log off and log back on (not restart) the computer. Let me know if this does not work . Sue

Oceanography question

In an effort to prevent cheating Jamie Webb has his students do the quiz from the online link in the textbook, then copy and paste it into an email. Send the email to themselves and print it out. I had a student who had not mastered this technique and was very frustrated with it this morning. I know he will be back again to learn how to do this. According to the instructor it is on the Angle page in assignments and he has gone over it in class as well.

Health sciences databases

I checked the health sciences databases tonight on the remote station. If they were entered by me in angel, they come to the ezproxy connection. If somebody tried to do it themselves, then they are on their own. If a student has a question, please ask them to come by and see me. Thanks. We are basically piloting this and I want to work out any kinks.
